Last weekend a member of the HiyaCar team took a lovely sunny trip to Colchester castle, so the next blog in our road-trip series is:

London to Tiptree

The drive to Colchester from London in the sun is a very pretty journey, it’s quite a long drive so you could stop off in TipTree at the Wilkin & Sons Jam Factory. Unfortunately they no longer do tours of the factory but they do have a lovely cafe and shop where you can eat lunch and buy lots of delicious jam.

Once you have had lunch in TipTree it’s only a 20 minute journey to Colchester, did you know that Colchester served as the first capital of Roman Britain and is thought to be the oldest recorded town in Britain?

Right in the middle of town is Colchester castle. Colchester Castle is the largest surviving Norman Keep in Europe, it was built back in 1076 and since then it is been at the centre of a lot of history! It has some really beautiful grounds where people now come to relax when the sun is shining. It it also a very popular wedding venue, so if you have recently got engaged and you are looking for somewhere to get married, you should take a trip and visit the castle!
