Lorenzo's family trip to Richmond Park

2 years ago, Lorenzo and his family made the decision to sell their car and test out different ways of travelling to see if they could save money by not owning a car.

Living in Central London, a car for his family is not a necessity, although, at times, they do need a car to get around. On Boxing Day, they found Michael’s Volkswagen Golf on Hiyacar which wasn’t far from where they live and used it for the day to go to Richmond Park.

“This was the first time that we’d hired a car through a peer to peer platform, it was a nice feeling knowing that the money we were spending was going to the owner of the car, rather than a large corporation. We were also extra careful with his car and made sure that the kid’s muddy shoes were taken off before getting back inside!”

Lorenzo told us that his experiment of not owning a car and using other types of transport has been really successful and he’s definitely saved money over the last couple of years. Since hiring a car from Hiyacar he’s now considering buying a car and hiring it out so that he can make enough money to cover the cost of owning a car which will also give him the flexibility of having transport when he needs it.
