"Collected car and it only had 46% charge by the time I got out of the car park. For an almost two day hire that I'm permitted to do 600 miles but only needing to do a hundred or so, I had hoped it would not need to be charged on cable by me during my booking. Worse than that was the state of the car. Dirty both on the outside and the inside. Food crumbs and a burn mark on the back seat, mud and twigs in the front. Luckily my phone (which you have to have charged and with you at all times) was Qi capable and could be charged as the cable charger that I am used to seeing in these cars was not present. I've hired other char.gy vehicles and they have always had them in. I would hope in these covid times that cars are checked and cleaned between hires? You need to be consistent and let users know if this is not going to be the case. The car is brilliant and a great example of how EV's can be made available for sharing and community use but this particular hire was not a good experience."

"Great car, no issues except it occasionally takes a couple of try’s to get it to open or lock with the phone. Smelled very slightly of cigarettes at first; that either went away or I got used to it."

"Very stressful trying to start the rental due to the Hiyacar app not working. Attempts to ring them were unsuccessful despite phone lines opening at 8am and I didn’t have enough signal to access the chat function. However, car excellent and would definitely hire again, though much more expensive than the £1 per hour/£5 insurance advertised."

"Car is great but this time the wireless charging did not work. Car also froze in an unusable state just when I was set to return it. Had to get it rebooted via the help/support function in order to get it going again causing a late dropoff. Also spent an extra hour after dropping it off trying to get the charge plate to work with no joy. Engineer now needed. Induction plates not really selling EV's to me just now!"

"I think this is a great initiative! Driving an electric car was cool! If it wasn't for the interior of the car I would have given a 5 star rating across the board. When the car was picked up, it smelled of cigarette smoke and was filthy!  As well as the smell, tobacco flakes were in the front compartments. It appeared that a drink had also been spilt as there was a small amount of liquid in the drink holder and had dried on the bottom of the driver's side door. Someone had been eating in the back as crumbs were evident. We had to vacuum, air out and wipe down the interior of the car before the rest of the family could get in. Driving the car was also cool. It took a bit to get used to knowing when the car had started and stopped as it was so quiet. Overall, the total hire cost wasn't too bad. The insurance was as twice as much as the hire and booking fees combined. The extra insurance cover was also as much as the basic insurance, which made it a more expensive than I would have"

"We picked up the car at 25% charge. It left our day very anxious as we didn’t know if we’d make it back safely that too with a small baby. Our day was planned accordingly thinking we’d have full charge. It wasn’t a nice experience. Esp when they state we’d have at least 60% fuel charge."

"Again this car was absolutely fine. The keyless hire process through the app works well with no issues. The car is not old and drives like a new car should. The whole EV concept with obvious range anxiety is getting better for me having now learned a lot more about the differences between charging rates (and costs!). Note that the car is not always full of battery charge on pickup so you might want to collect early and top up yourself if you have a decent journey ahead of you that is constrained by being somewhere by a certain time. I will use this car again I am sure."

"First time user of Hiyacar and of the Char.gy set up also. Everything went absolutely fine and was so simple. No keys to worry about, car was like new and had no problems at all. The real time interaction with the Hiyacar app to lock and unlock the car worked perfectly although if you do walk away from the car for a moment and then come back - don't panic that the car won't lock/unlock, just let your phone reconnect first. That only takes a second or so when you are close enough again and hit the 'retry' button within the app."

"I work for the NHS and used the Char.gy Renault Zoe today to get to Bicester for a training course since unfortunately my own vehicle (Mercedes Vito van) is poorly and is off the road. It was great. I booked online through the Hiyacar app, and unlocked and ‘started’ the car using my phone this morning. The rental was probably a similar cost to the diesel I would have used in the van had I taken that. I have done around 75 miles as I nipped into Wycombe on the way home. I started with 100% charge and have 58% remaining which I don’t think is bad since I had the cruise control set at 65mph for almost the entire journey (annoyingly I couldn’t get it to maintain 70mph using cruise control and had to assist with a bit of ‘right foot’…. My only hesitation in recommending this is that the insurance excess is high at £800 although can be reduced to £100 with an additional payment of £11 and of course, if too many people start using it, it may not be available next time I need it 🤣"

"I really enjoyed driving it this time!! The charge didn’t go so quickly and it was smooth. The only issue I have is that it’s not available close to my home to ‘hiya’ more often. I have to Uber to the location it’s parked. So all in all it doesn’t workout to be cost effective."

"Brilliant service again thank you 😊 car was fully charged and for anyone having trouble the phone signal is rubbish in that corner of the car park but I find standing near the right back corner of the car seems to be the best area for signal 😊"
