Things to Do in Clapton

Clapton is known as London’s coolest area, and it’s a brilliant place to explore by car. The area is home to a whole host of ingenious creatives, as well as plenty of inspiring independent businesses and some beautiful parks and landmarks. Take a look at some of our top tips for days out in Clapton and start planning your trip.

Chatsworth Road Market

Chatsworth Road Market dates back to the 1930s, when it was a bustling marketplace with over 200 stalls. The market closed down in the 90s, but after a petition by local residents it was brought back - and it’s now better than ever. Head to Chatsworth Road on a Sunday and you’ll find a huge array of great stalls selling all kinds of goods, from food and drink to clothing and accessories.

Springfield Park

One of the area’s best-kept secrets, Springfield Park is a real hidden gem. This beautiful park is frequented by locals, who relish its quiet and calm atmosphere. This park doesn’t have tube connections nearby, which means it’s far more tranquil than some of the other, better connected parks in the area. Take a walk along the Lea River towpath and make a day of it.

Castle Cinema

Chatsworth Road is home to this unmissable independent cinema. The boutique screening room has just 80 seats; it’s the perfect place to catch vintage films as well as the latest blockbusters. There’s also a stunning art deco bar, which was recently restored to its former glory thanks to a crowdfunding campaign.
