Where is Peckham?

Peckham lies in south-east London (SE15), part of Southwark, about 3.5 miles (5.6 km) SE of Charing Cross. The History of Peckham

Peckham was originally a small village and dates back to the 1000s, with archaeological finds suggesting even earlier (during Roman occupation). In the 18th and early 19th centuries, Peckham was still a coaching stop and market-garden area. The arrival of the railway transformed Peckham as Peckham Rye station opened in 1865.

In recent decades, Peckham has seen regeneration and cultural revival. Peckham Rye Park, originally opened in 1894, was restored and reopened in 2005, and Peckham Library (designed by Will Alsop) won the 2000 Stirling Prize.
