Paddington Station

London Paddington is a huge attraction for visitors from across the world. A grade I listed building in its own right, the station has been standing and in operation since the 1800s. Having undergone several renovations since then, the building has still retained its recognisable arch shape in the main train shed. Just a few minutes from the station, attached to St. Mary’s Hospital, is Alexander Fleming’s Laboratory. This hidden gem has been restored to its original 1928 condition, complete with era-appropriate equipment. Inside you can view exhibits which tell the story of Fleming’s discovery of penicillin, whilst also telling visitors more about the man’s life before and after the discovery.
